Erich J. Lidl is of counsel to the firm and an AV rated attorney by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell. Erich practices litigation and business law in the areas of construction, professional liability, business, products liability, and personal injury law. Erich's practice includes complex civil litigation with an emphasis in commercial construction disputes and representing licensed professional clients in malpractice and business matters.
Erich has represented owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, consultants, sureties, insurers, product suppliers, and manufacturers in a wide variety of construction matters. He has negotiated and prepared construction, licensing, lease, employment, and professional service agreements. He has also successfully litigated cases on behalf of real estate, insurance, and mortgage brokers. Erich has formed business entities in the medical, architecture, wholesale, financial services and real estate industries. He has counseled clients on corporate governance and risk management issues.
Erich has represented health care providers in medical, dental, and counseling malpractice actions. He has also represented long term care providers involving claims under the Elder Abuse Act.
Erich's trial and arbitration experience includes the representation of contractors, design professionals and subcontractors, as well as many personal injury matters. Erich’s has successfully defended cases involving major landslides, building failures, wrongful death, and catastrophic personal injury. He has successfully prosecuted breach of contract and fee actions for business and consultant clients. In addition, Erich has represented the prevailing respondent in appellate matters involving premises liability and real estate matters.
Erich has served on the Board of Directors of several companies. He has been in house senior counsel for a national utility billing company, as well as outside general counsel for several companies.
Erich is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, the San Diego Business Trial Lawyers Association and the State Bar of California. He is admitted to practice in both the Southern and Central United States District Courts of California. Erich has practiced in the United States Court of Federal Claims. Erich serves as an arbitrator and Judge Pro Tempore for the San Diego County Superior Court. He is also a fee arbitrator for the San Diego County Bar Association and the State Bar of California.
Erich obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan (B.A., Economics, 1986) and his law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law (J.D. 1989). While in law school, Erich was a moot court instructor, represented clients in the Criminal Justice Clinic and interned with the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas.
